Powertrain & Performance
Battery & Motor Options
The Carens Clavis EV is offered with two battery pack choices:
42 kWh pack: ~132–135 PS (133–135 bhp), 255 Nm torque, ARAI‑certified range of ~404 km.
51.4 kWh pack: ~169–171 PS (169–171 bhp), same torque, range up to 490 km (AI‑certified MIDC).
The 51.4 kWh variant accelerates from 0–100 km/h in around 8.4 seconds. The electric motor is a front‑mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor paired with a liquid‑cooled, IP67‑rated battery tested for Indian road conditions (drop, vibration, water ingress).
Charging & Regeneration
DC fast‑charging (100 kW): 10–80% in ~39 minutes.
AC charging (11 kW): Full charge in 4 h (42 kWh variant) or ~4 h 45 min (51.4 kWh variant).
Four levels of regenerative braking are selectable via paddle shifters, including Kia’s i‑Pedal mode allowing one‑pedal driving
